I sometimes think that the organising principle that underlies my painting is some kind of spectrum – a range between order/principle and chaos/uncontrolled. I think my work swings between these two poles. I have been more conscious over the past year of letting go the control mechanisms in my painter’s self and allowing the dial to move a little closer to the uncontrolled. Its more like valuing the letting go of control; and only applying control in very specific areas and ways. Over the past year I have been thinking of the core of the work more as a creating dynamism between these two poles. Be happy to hear your views about this.
