Anne-Marie Butlin

My paintings are an attempt to convey the character of different flowers and the unique feeling they can create in a space; the strong structures and often the sheer joyfulness of their appearance.

I try to capture the quiet transitory moments which make any garden or natural landscape an oasis of calm; giving us space to contemplate, meditate, and be reminded of our mortality and place in the natural world. Portrait paintings are likewise an attempt to hold on to moments of stillness.

I am represented by Thackeray Gallery in Kensington, Brian Sinfield Gallery in Burford, Cambridge Contemporary Art and Beside the Wave Gallery in Falmouth. I have participated in numerous group exhibitions including The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Royal Society of Portrait Painters, The Royal Watercolour Society and Royal Society of British Artists.
