I am a Gambian born, UK resident Painter, Musician and Poet – Essentially an artist.
Visually I am engaged in portraiture through media and material that often breaks the rules. My core passion I find, is to exalt echoes of ‘smaller’ voices, and so deliver a better understanding of ‘who we are as a oneness’. I am currently working on what I coin ‘Afstract Figurative’ art. Figurative art is known to draw clearly and directly from objects in the real world, mainly of the human form, and is representative. Abstract art does not seek to portray accurate depictions of visual reality – so is not representative. I wish to abstract realism from an Afrocentric perspective by drawing on materials, shapes, colours, and form that represent African truism, and so marry the two into ‘Afstract figurative’.
