I am a textile designer and tutor in both fashion and interiors, in spare moments I create precise intercut compositions assembled from drawings, paintings, mark making, and mono prints. When cycling to work I am distracted by patterns, textures, colours and shapes from discarded objects, buildings, and streets. Intercutting these new bits together with old work seams to create some order, rhythm, and calm, as the compositions grow, and one piece leads then onto another. Like patchwork each piece has a narrative combining different moments in time.
Screen Prints on Linen – this work is evolving, it started by drawing simple shapes of objects in the V&A and then creating hand cut stencils. The basic technique of paper stencil printing with blank screens is both thoughtful and spontaneous, it focuses on shapes, colour, and composition. The many accidental blobs are the beauty of it and help to direct the final outcome.
