My work focuses predominantly on how the mind and body are affected when immersed in water. I’m fascinated by the way light is refracted and reflected, distorting and enhancing colour and shape resulting in the occurrence of natural abstractions. I hope to transport the viewer to a different place as a form of escapism from the real world. I want my paintings to evoke a memory or a dream in which you can lose yourself. My love of water led me to exploring fluid art techniques where the flow of the paint mimics the flow of water. The result is often unpredictable, but the way the paints flow and interact with each other creates a magical quality which lends itself perfectly to depicting an underwater world. I often add a layer of resin as a topcoat to add another dimension to the work.
