I see the world in shapes. Hence my preference for the abstract, allied to the melding of textures and colour. I work in acrylic paint but also dabble with other materials and make limited edition prints.
Recently I have been drawn to the interplay between industrial materials and nature. My inspiration is the riverside Essex village of Wivenhoe, notably its harbourside detritus, boat shapes and the daily tidal washing of the reedbeds and mudflats.
Following many years as a graphic designer, I did a Masters at Central St Martins in future materials and textiles. This completely altered my perspective, sending me into fresh artistic directions, such as these paintings.
