It is the atmosphere and sense of place that I am interested in portraying, this dictates my choice of subject matter. Whether it be the loneliness of a derelict rural landscape or the often artificial light of our cities, all are affected by the seasonal passage of time. I employ different techniques and materials to portray these city/landscapes aiming for a spontaneous emotional response to themes, often choosing a particular shape or outline to explore. I am very aware of the wastage and environmental impact of artists materials and consequently make more use of found objects and recycled archival materials in the reworking of old and new pieces. Alongside the larger works I will be showing a number of small life drawing prints produced on my ipad.
