I am a figurative painter, fascinated by unexplored identities and unlived lives, inspired by popular culture, the search for joy and disregard of convention. I employ different painterly languages, working quickly in oil to record my visceral responses and create an intimate relationship between content and surface. My Readers’ Wives project celebrates women reclaiming their bodies, taking control of the gaze and upending the confines of their domesticity, whilst in The Men “uninvited approaches to me online“ are toyed with; upsized, downsized, rendered mute. The Miniatures series inverts the scale of famous images, questioning the value of size and asking the viewer to lean in. With each, the suggestion of narratives past and stories still to be told form the common, emotional thread.
