Sirpa Pajunen-Moghissi

I make mixed media works using a technique that involves layering multiple materials and drawing and painting on them as I build up the surface. My current series of work is called Icons of Nature and looks into the philosophy of Pantheism and how primitive humans experienced and worshipped nature. I use ideas from the traditions of icon painting, but I have placed the nature as religious beings into the golden halos instead of people. The titles of the paintings are in Latin as it has been the language which has been commonly used to name plants and animals.
